Helping men feel, think and be better.

Hi, I’m Ian.

I’ve been where you are – I know what it’s like to suffer in silence. I didn’t want to let people down, and didn’t ever feel like I had the room to process and manage my own emotions, because I was so busy making sure everyone else was okay.

I ended up paying a really, really high price for it, and I’m hoping that my story can nudge you to make a small change. And that’s the key, by the way: small changes that compound over time.

Over the last 15 years, I’ve had the pleasure and pain of scaling a global business, and then losing it because of covid complications, all while becoming a father, dealing with serious illness in my closest circle, overcoming my own health issues, and navigating two deaths in the family.

While I went to school for the ‘right’ things to help you, it is the lived experience of extreme burnout, fractured relationships, immense personal loss, deep mental and physical health issues, and having to recover from it all, that has really set me up to be of service.

Your coaching shouldn't be about me, but I also understand that it’s easier to open up to someone who has weathered the storm and come out the other side a better human being.

My Approach

Every person’s coaching journey is unique, but here are 3 broad areas that we will work on. Tap to learn more.

  • “Self-care should come before service.”

Together, we will identify and stabilise a set of habits to bolster your physical health and mental wellbeing. This isn’t about becoming a high-level athlete, it’s about trending in the right direction, where consistency is more important than speed.

    This will help us:

    • Build confidence and momentum by following through on what we say we will do.

    • Create a physiological and psychological environment that is ready for adaptability, joy and success.

    • Form the scaffolding for resilience and accountability; a system to get us back to centre when life gets hard.

  • "If the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail." - Abraham Maslow

Men often shy away from these words: empathy, vulnerability, communication, connection, supportive, encouraging, caring, loving.

While they are often considered to be ‘feminine’ attributes, they should be more accurately described as ‘human’.

Pause and consider this: If a young child could describe the father that they need the most, who would help them flourish and grow, what would they say? Suddenly, those ‘feminine’ words apply quite well, don’t they?

This isn’t about ditching your ‘masculine’ traits for ‘feminine’ traits; it’s about expanding your skillset, confidence and experience of life.

We’ll build an inner toolkit that includes:

    • Emotional awareness: Learn to recognise, label, and process feelings.

    • Communication skills: Build stronger, more genuine connections, that are true to who you are.

    • Purposeful reflection practices: Introspection, visualisation, and alignment with your values.

  • “I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.” — Bronnie Ware, referring to the top regret people talk about on their deathbeds, from her book The Top Five Regrets of the Dying

With a deeper understanding of who we are and what makes us tick, we can build a clearer picture of our values, the pillars of our lives, and how we want to grow.

By the end of the program, you’ll have:

    • Clarity on what brings a deep sense of meaning to your life; what drives you.

    • The tools to implement habits that strengthen resilience and autonomy.

    • A personal ‘map and compass’; the knowledge and ability to keep yourself in line, and to find your way back when you stray.

When we know why we’re doing what we’re doing, it makes the effort make sense.

We shift from “I have to”, to “I want to”.

Then, to “it’s just how I live my life to feel at my best”.

And in the best case scenario, to “I’m so excited that I get to do this.”

It’s time to sit in the driver’s seat of your life.

“Working with Ian Tan has been life-changing. His programming helped me build both physical and mental resilience through impactful habits, which transformed how I approach life’s challenges during a particularly hectic time in my life. I was introduced to Ian through a mutual friend who knew I was recovering from cancer, with a young family and a corporate job involving a lot of travel. I've gained valuable skills in communication and connection, improving my relationships and creating deeper bonds. Most importantly, I now live a more purpose-driven life, with clarity and focus on what truly matters. This journey has been transformative. “Working with Ian was truly transformative, both professionally and personally. Throughout our time together, his guidance helped me navigate the challenges of managing diverse teams and supported me with how to build stronger connections through effective communication. His emphasis on sustainable habits - whether through physical fitness, mindful nutrition, or forming routines - helped me find focus not just for work but for life as a whole. What set Ian apart was his personable care and dedication to helping others grow and develop. His ability to offer perspective during tough moments taught me the value of mental resilience and staying grounded in what truly matters.”

Darryl Chan

Senior manager

“In the past, I struggled to form genuine connections with professionals, which significantly limited my influence when collaborating with others. This challenge had a major negative impact both on those around me and on my ability to manage people and lead projects. From day one, Ian emphasised the importance of effective communication - not only in interacting well with others, but also in engaging in self-reflection. He taught me to understand my own emotions, intentions, and aspirations, helping me become more reflective in my practice. Thanks to his nurturing guidance, I improved not only the frequency of my communication but also its depth, which profoundly enhanced my relationships both at work and in life. I deeply appreciate the skills I’ve learned from Ian. I owe much of my leadership and coaching abilities to him.”
